For the record, my streaming audio setup is running entirely on the Linux OS. My Uniden BC796D is connected via audio cable AND serial cable to an Windows Vista machine running Simplecast and Talkgroup Monitor, which adds the alpha tags from the scanner (allowing your audio client to see which division to which you are currently tuned).

Simplecast, which runs on one of my home computers, is configured to mount an OGG feed and an MP3 feed on an Icecast2 server I have running on my Linode virtual, collocated Debian Linux server.
